Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Information you give us directly. When you use our contact form, you provide your name, email address, and any message you send us; submissions are routed to info@unitedcarnalescc.org. If you contact a board member directly (email, phone, mail), we retain the information you share so we can respond.

Donation information. Donations are processed entirely through PayPal via a link on our Donate page. UCCC does not collect, transmit, or store your credit card, debit card, or bank account details — PayPal handles that data under its own privacy policy. We may separately receive limited information from PayPal (such as your name, email, and the amount donated) to send a thank-you or tax acknowledgment.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and security systems may automatically log standard technical data — your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited — for security and site-performance purposes. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers.

Information we do not seek. UCCC does not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers through the website.

How We Use and Share Your Information

We use the information we collect to: respond to messages sent through our contact form; process, acknowledge, and issue tax receipts for donations; communicate with donors, volunteers, and community partners about UCCC’s programs (veteran support, family assistance, and childhood-illness advocacy); and maintain the security and functioning of our website.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may share limited information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate — our website host, our contact-form provider, and PayPal for donation processing — solely to perform the services we’ve asked of them.
  • Board members and officers of UCCC, on a need-to-know basis, to carry on correspondence or process a donation.
  • Legal or safety purposes, if required to comply with a law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UCCC, our supporters, or the public.

Cookies, Analytics, and Do Not Track

When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner lets you choose whether to accept, decline, or select which categories of non-essential cookies we may use. Necessary cookies that keep the site secure and functioning are used regardless, as they do not involve tracking you. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser’s cookies for our site and reloading the page. If we add specific analytics or marketing tools in the future, they will only activate for the cookie categories you’ve consented to, and this policy will be updated to name them.

Our website does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as no common industry standard for responding to them has been adopted.

Children’s Privacy and Data Security

Our website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website. If we learn that a child has submitted personal information without parental consent, we will delete it. (This does not affect the personal stories or case information a parent, guardian, or partner organization may share with us about a child served by our Childhood Disease Advocacy program — that information is provided by an adult on the child’s behalf and is handled with the same care described in this policy.)

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information you share with us, including relying on PayPal’s secure, PCI-compliant systems for all donation payments. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices and Rights

You may always contact us to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it, and we will honor reasonable requests to the extent we’re able. You may opt out of any future email communication from us at any time by replying to that email or contacting info@unitedcarnalescc.org.

California residents: Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents may request information once a year about any personal information we’ve shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes; as described above, we do not do this. As a nonprofit public benefit corporation, UCCC is not a “business” as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and is generally not subject to it, but we are committed to honoring the spirit of these choices for anyone who contacts us.

Third-Party Links, Changes to This Policy, and Contact Us

Our website may link to third-party sites, including PayPal and our social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies directly.

We may update this policy from time to time as our website or programs change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most current version, and material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
